The Road

We will meet on November 17, 2009, after school in the library to discuss our latest book, The Road.

Meeting dates and selections

Remaining meeting dates:

November 17, January 19, February 23, and March 16.

We need to choose selections for these dates, so blog away with recommendations. Remember, the book must be appropriate by our school’s standards. If you have any questions about the appropriateness of a book, see me in Room 6.

The Giver

This book is our selection for our October meeting which will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009. The book is written by Lois Lowry and there are  a few copies available in the library. While many of you have read this book in middle school, our hope is to bring our analyses of the book to a higher level. I will be available to moderate the discussions at 6:45 a.m. and 2:35 p.m. in the library. Pick a time and I’ll see you there.

Their Eyes Were Watching God

This was our selection for the September meeting. Many of you expressed difficulty reading this book. It’s not an easy read, but well worth the effort! The book is written by Zora Neale Hurst. Try to put this book on your “to read” list!

The Glass Castle

Begin reading this very interesting book for our February meeting.

The Gift of the Magi

 This story by O. Henry will be the reading for a meeting on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. THE STORY WILL BE READ DURING THE MEETING which will be held in the library after school. Merry Christmas!

Read the abridged or unabridged version of this classic by Alexander Dumas for our January 8, 2009 meeting.

Inherit the Wind

Begin reading this play for our November meeting. The authors are Jerome Lawrence & Robert E. Lee.
